Tutorial: Hello Kitty Nails (Requested by Hellen)

Hey guys! So a while ago, Hellen asked me if I could do a tutorial for Hello Kitty nails. I'm not very good at nails so this was the best I could do.

 Products Used:

How I did these nails:

1. I took the pink Rimmel nail polish and painted my nails as normal, covering the entire nail in pink.

2. Leave to dry completely.

3. Then I took the white Barry M nail polish and painted white polka dots over the pink nails on all nails except the for the ring finger. I just used the normal brush that came with the nail polish to do this by dotting the polka dots on with the bottom of the brush.

4. For the ring finger, start by painting white across the top of the nail like you would if you were doing a french manicure (you can use a french manicure sticker to do this). I use then normal brush to do this and then used the same brush to add little cat ears to it at each side.

5. After leaving the white dry, you can paint on eyes with a black nail polish and a nose with yellow nail polish (you can use a cocktail stick to do this or you can try it with the brush that came with the colours if you don't have any). Leave to dry and then you are all done.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope that you liked the Hello Kitty nails, especially you Hellen :) If anyone tries these nails, I would love if you would tweet me (@MissLauraBora) a picture of them once they are finished and I hope they come out better than mine.

Getting Up Early

Image taken from quotepixel.com

Hi everyone! Today, I got up early and went to college (Uni) for eight o clock when I didn't have to be in for any classes until twelve and I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself. I've spent most of January trying and failing to get up early to get some work done. I don't know if it's because college started this week and now I actually have somewhere to go and work when I get up early, or I'm just feeling particularly motivated today but I'm hoping that this will continue for at least most of the semester. I'm sitting in the library planning different blog posts and doing some college work that I had planned to get done before college had started again. (oops)

I'm looking forward to getting everything done because if you don't know already, I am a major procrastinator and I always have something hanging over me to do. This is probably the earliest I've ever written a blog post and I knew that I will feel a lot better having everything finished later on and won't have to think about all the stuff I have left to do at eight or nine in the evening.

I know everyone's heard the saying "the early bird catches the worm", which is true but I found this quote by Jim Rohn that I thought really suited how I feel today. I've spent the whole of January waking up late and feeling like the whole day was practically over and I didn't have time to get anything done, but once you get past that horrible few seconds of actually getting up, you will feel a lot better knowing that you have the entire day ahead of you.

Do you prefer to get up early and get everything done? Or can you not even lift your head from the pillow before noon each day? I'm definitely not a morning person but I'm starting to wonder if it's possible to become one. Do you think it is possible to change the habit of a lifetime? Leave a comment below.

The Grammys 2014: My Best and Worst Dressed

Hey guys, today's post is another award season best and worst dressed and this time I'm talking about The Grammys. So as always, in no particular order, here are my best dressed:

Best Dressed
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift looked absolutely incredible in this shiny Gucci chainmail gown. It was so different to anything I've seen on the red carpet lately and I thought she looked stunning in it. I also really loved the hair and makeup.

 Colbie Caillat
I loved this gorgeous deep red Ezra Santos gown on Colbie Caillat. The detail at the top of it was so pretty but I have to admit that I really didn't like this hair with it.

Anna Faris
If you have already read any of my other award season posts, (which I will link at the bottom) you will know that I love a simple dress over sparkles and frills so I had to include Anna Faris on my best dressed list. It was a gorgeous fitted dress and she looked great but it wasn't a very special dress for me.

Ciara

I thought Ciara showed off her baby bump in style in this gorgeous sparkly dress. (I didn't say I didn't like sparkles, I just prefer simple elegant gowns :P ) I think she looks absolutely amazing but I think if I saw this dress on the clothes rack and not on Ciara, then I'm not sure if I would like it that much. Ciara makes it.

Bonnie McKee
This dress didn't photograph that well but when I saw her walk past on E!'s Live at the red carpet I thought it was absolutely stunning. I really love this dress but the hair kind of ruined the look a little for me. I also really love the shiny clutch bag.

I'm not 100% percent sure about..

Katy Perry
I'm leaning more for liking this dress than not because I really love the bottom of it with the music notes on it and thought that it was perfect for The Grammys and for Katy Perry to wear because she loves fun, quirky outfits. However, I didn't like the top of dress and I didn't like the hair so I'm not 100% sure about this but I definitely like it more than I dislike it.

Zendaya
Again I'm not sure about this look but I think that if the floor length skit was all black and if she had worn some more edgier shoe, that she would have looked so cool and edgy, especially with the hair and makeup which I really loved. If those changes were made then she probably would have been one of my best dressed, but with the skirt and shoes as is, I'm not really that sure.

Worst Dressed

Pharrell Williams
I usually don't include men in my best and worst dressed but this time I had to mention one. I really don't know what to say about Pharrell William's hat. When I first saw it, I wasn't sure if it was a joke or he was going to take it off later in the night to reveal a big surprise like a new hair cut or a budgie flying out from underneath it. I really like Pharrell, and I do like that he took a risk and didn't go with the norm, but I just didn't like this hat.

Beyonce
As much as I love Beyonce, I have two things that I don't like about this look; her new shorter hair and the fact that this dress almost shows her crotch. If the design went the whole way down and covered her crotch then the dress would be okay but I don't love it.

I hope you like this post. If you want me to do a post like this for The Oscars let me know in the comments below or like it on Bloglovin to let me know that you like when I do these type of posts. Here are the links to my best and worst dressed of the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Also, please leave a comment below telling me your best and worst dressed of The Grammys, I'd love to know your thoughts.

Liebster Award

Hey guys! So I got nominated for another Liebster Award. Thanks so much to Ivana from Little and Flushed for nominating me. This is gonna be my last ever Liebster Award because it can only be given to bloggers with less than 200 followers and I hit 200 followers just a couple of days after Ivana nominated me. I'm so happy that I've hit 200 followers and that I was nominated for another Liebster just before so that I can do one final one.

The Liebster Award Rules:

You must link back the person who nominated you.
You must state 11 random facts about yourself
You must answer the 10 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you.
You must pick 10 bloggers to be nominated for the award with under 200 followers.
You must come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

11 random facts about me:

1. I play the guitar.
2. My favourite colour is and has always been blue.
3. I'm 5 ft 7 and a 1/2
4. I love crime shows like CSI, Criminal Minds and Law and Order SVU.
5. I love animals.
6. I study French and English at University.
7. I have one dog and two goldfish.
8. I love scary movies even though I am a bit of a scaredy-cat.
9. I hate spiders.
10. London is my favourite city in the world.
11. I am a major procrastinator and never do any college work until the night before it's due.

10 questions that Ivana gave me:

1. Heels or flats?
Flats. I'm not very good at walking in heels so I prefer to wear flats for everyday and then heels on a night out, plus flats are way more comfortable.

2. If you only had 1 minute to do your makeup, what product would you reach for first?
Concealer. I have fairly good skin so I don't really need foundation but I like to use some concealer to cover my dark circles.

3. Cats or dogs?
Dogs. I have always preferred dogs ever since I was a child and I always wanted a dog. I begged my mom for one for years and she eventually gave in when I was fifteen and I got a Jack Russell called Derek who I still have today. ( I know that Derek is a weird name for a dog :P)

4. What did you want to be when you were a child?
When I was little I wanted to be a waitress which is really weird because I would absolutely hate to be one now. I really wouldn't like to work with food. I'm also really clumsy so I know that I wouldn't be able to carry all the plates at once without dropping them.

5. Why did you start blogging?
I started watching a lot of vlogs and thought that it was something that I wanted to do but I was a bit scared to go in front of the camera so thought that I should start blogging instead. I love blogging and I am so glad I started it. Maybe I can do some vlogs/videos as well as blogging someday.

6. Do you prefer to wear lipstick or lipgloss?
Definitely lipstick, I'm not a lipgloss girl at all. I feel like it's a waste of time because it wears off so quickly and you have to keep reapplying it.

7. What type of superpower would you want to have?
I think maybe being able to move things with my mind but I feel like this question's answers changes every so often because there are so many cool powers to choose from and they could all come in useful.

8. What is your favourite TV Show?
I'm not sure. I like loads of different TV shows and it changes from week to week. Lately, I've been watching a lot of Pretty Little Liars, Sex and the City and Criminal Minds.

9. What is your favourite season?
I've always liked Winter because I don't like it when it's too hot out and I always find spring a bit depressing. Also, Christmas is in Winter and I love the idea of snow and warm fires and things like that. Winter has always been my answer to this question but I'm not really sure right now because I don't like when it's freezing cold out so maybe Autumn which is when Halloween and my birthday occur.

10. What is your favourite shop?
I love Boots and River Island but I also really love books shops and toy stores, places that I can spend absolutely ages wandering around looking at everything.

My nominees :

Sian from The Pretty Possessive
Samantha from Little Miss Cake Maker
Stacie from Makeup Obsessed Mom
Lauren from Love Lauren x
Natalie from Coral Tinted Perceptions
Allyssa from Life With Lyss
Lori from Vintage Beauty
Rebecca from XBeccaBe
Ellis from Strawberry Lace
Abegail from The Vintage Traveler

My questions for my nominees:

1. What is your favourite makeup look to wear?
2. Who is your style crush?
3. Who are your favourite band?
4. What is your ultimate mascara?
5. What's your favourite thing about blogging?
6. What is your favourite shop?
7. Who is your favourite blogger/youtuber?
8. What type of eyeliner do you prefer to use? (gel, liquid, none, etc)
9. Have you any pets?
10. Why did you start blogging?

I hope you liked this post. Thank you again to Ivana for nominating me. Feel free to do the tag anyway even if I didn't nominate you and make sure to leave a link in the comments below to your blog post if you do.

Rimmel Quad Makeup Look Using Real Techniques Brushes + International Giveaway (CLOSED)

Hey guys! So because there are only a few days left in my international giveaway of a Real Techniques Starter Set and Rimmel eye shadow quad in smokey brun, I decided to show you an eye makeup look that you could create with them using ones I own myself.

(The look is more pigmented in real life.)
Here is what I did:
1. Use the brow brush to do your eyebrows with whatever colour you use normally (the colours in this quad wouldn't be good for brows because they are too shimmery)
2. Take the champagne colour on the left and put it all over the lid with the base shadow brush.
3. Use the same brush to take the goldish colour on the right of the quad and put it through the crease and on the outer half of the lid. (you can also use the deluxe crease brush for this but I prefer to use it for concealer.)
4. Then take the dark brown colour at the top on the same brush again and put it in the outer corner and move it towards the crease. Then bring in under the eye on the same brush or the brow brush.
5. You can then use either the base shadow brush or the deluxe crease brush to take the lightest colour at the bottom to highlight the brow bone by bringing it just under your brow. (you can wipe the base shadow brush on a tissue before doing this so you don't have any of the brown still on the brush)
6. Also put the lightest colour in the inner corner using whatever brush you used in the last step.
7. Use any black pencil eyeliner to line your water line and tight line.
8. Use the pixel-point eyeliner brush to line the top lash line. I used an essence gel eyeliner to do this.
9. Curl your lashes and use whatever mascara you like.

I hope you liked this post. If you want to enter the giveaway to win a brand new Real Techniques Starter Set and Rimmel eye shadow quad click here. Good luck to everyone!

Screen Actors Guild Awards 2014: My Best and Worst Dressed

Hello everyone, here is my second award season post. I've already done my best and worst dressed at the Golden Globes and now I'm doing my best and worst dressed at the Screen Actors Guild awards. There were a lot of gorgeous dresses but here are some of my favourites in no particular order:

Best Dressed

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita looks absolutely stunning in this gorgeous teal/turquoise Gucci gown. This fit is really good and shows off her fantastic figure, and I love the detail around the neck. This dress is perfect. I also love how she always has really simple accessories so that everyone can focus on how gorgeous the dress is.

Anna Gunn
Anna Gunn looked gorgeous in this sparkly Monique Lhuillier dress. I love the colour and it's really classy.

Jane Krakowski
I really love the colour of this Roland Mouret dress. It's gorgeous. It's very slightly too long for her but she still looks great. I also really like the hair and makeup.

Jennifer Garner
I really love Jennifer Garners dress. I love everything about it; the fit, the colour, the belt.. I would definitely wear this dress. It's actually very similar to the dress I wore to my debs (prom) except for the belt.

Jennifer Lawrence
Okay back to the red carpet with Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. This is much better than the Dior she wore to the Golden Globes which you can see in my Golden Globes post. This is just a much nicer dress. It's not my favourite of the night but I do like it.

Julie Bowen
This is the second time Julie Bowen has made it on my best dressed list this awards season. I don't know if I prefer this dress over the one she wore to the Golden Globes but I definitely like it. I love the shape and the top of it but I would have preferred if the skirt part of the dress was completely white. She looked amazing and I can't wait to see what she wears to the next event.

 Katrina Bowden
I love this dress. I love the metallic and the black together. It's really edgy. It didn't photograph that well but when I saw her on live from the red carpet I thought it was absolutely stunning. I would have preferred to see this dress with an updo though just to show off more of the lovely detail around the neck.

Elisabeth Moss

There is no question about it, this dress is absolutely gorgeous. I love it! The dress on it's own looks amazing but I don't like the gold bracelet she is wearing and I really don't like the hair with it. Her hair looks better than it did at the Golden Globes, but I don't know if it's the colour or the cut, but the hair is just putting me off a bit. The dress is perfect though.

..and now for the worst dressed, who there wasn't that many of.

 Worst Dressed
Rita Moreno
I don't really know what to say about this. It just looks a little crazy. Maybe it would have worked without the jacket and the spikey hair.

Kerry Washington
Kerry was one of my best dressed for the Golden Globes but I just didn't like this on her at all. I just don't understand what possessed a pregnant woman to wear a crop top with a high waisted leather full length skirt to an awards ceremony. None of it makes sense to me. Most people work out for weeks so that they can wear a crop top but she thought to do it while pregnant, and even if she wasn't pregnant, I don't think this outfit really suited the occasion compared to all the amazing dresses we have already seen.

I hope you liked this post. If you did, make sure that you are following me because I am going to do a couple more of them for some of the other awards shows and then you will know when the are up. Also, make sure to leave a comment below telling me who was your favourite of the night.

NOTD: Collection Hot Looks Nail Polish

Hey guys, the other day I tried out the Collection Hot Looks nail polish in the colour 65 Scorched. I bought this because I thought it looked really cool and metallic, and it was really cheap too. It was only like 3 euros in Boots. I liked the nail polish but it was a little bit brighter than I was expecting. I would prefer if it was a tiny bit darker just so it could be worn for more types of occasions. It chipped pretty fast but I guess that's what I should expect for a nail polish that was so cheap. These nail polishes are good for really bright and pigmented colours that are cheap if you don't mind repainting, or they can last longer if you invest in a good clear top coat nail polish to wear over them.

Tag: Using Mom's Wardrobe and Makeup

Hey guys! So today I decided to do a Tag that I saw on ilikeweylie's Youtube Channel which was using my mom's wardrobe and makeup. I thought this Tag sounded really fun so I decided to try it.

Wardrobe

Top: Pennys/Primark
Necklace: Pennys/ Primark
Trousers: Dorothy Perkins
Boots: Pennys/ Primark

I felt like a big child playing dress up by putting on all my mom's clothes because they all were slightly too big for me. I don't think that I would actually be able to wear them anywhere because of this but I still managed to wear them long enough to take the pictures even if I did have to keep fixing the trousers. If they fit me perfectly, I wouldn't mind wearing this outfit somewhere. I really like the boots and the necklace.

Makeup

Products used:
Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Foundation (perfect beige)
Rimmel Natural Bronzer (sun bronze)
Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer
They're Real Mascara by Benefit
17 eyebrow shaper (natural brown)
Tesco eye pencil (05 slate blue)
Essence lipstick (31 glamour queen)

The makeup was a bit of a challenge because my mom doesn't use any eye shadows or blush or keep either of them in her makeup bag. She says that eye shadow doesn't suit her and she prefers to use bronzer on her cheeks. I decided to do the same as her with the bronzer but I just couldn't leave my eyes that plain. I used concealer on my eye lids first to even out the skin tone and then I used a greyish blue eyeliner the whole way around my eyes and winged it out slightly. Other than that, everything was done pretty much the same way I do my own makeup except that I had to fill my eye brows in with a pencil instead of brown eye shadow like I am used to.

My Mom :)

I hope you liked this post :) It was really fun to do! I tag anyone who wants to do this. Make sure to leave a link to your blog post in the comments, i'd love to see it. Also, I reached 200 followers on Bloglovin today so thank you all so much for continuing to read my blog and commenting. It means a lot to me.
