Tag: Seven Deadly Sins Of Beauty

Hey Guys, I decided to do the seven deadly sins of beauty tag because I read one on Carrie's Blog today and thought it would be fun to do.

Greed- what is your most expensive beauty item?
My Mac 15 eyeshadow palette. It was around €200 but i got mostly neutral colours so I use it almost everyday.

Sloth- which product do you neglect the most due to laziness?
Probably gel or liquid eyeliner. It takes so long because I always want it perfect and it never goes on completely perfect so I sometimes end up having to re-do it :(

Wrath- which item do you have a love/hate relationship with?
Eyeliner, I hate it for the reason above in the last question but I do love how it looks when it's on right.

Gluttony- what brand makes up most of your make-up collection?
Benefit. I love their products. My main primer, mascara, concealers, blush and highlighter are all from Benefit.

Pride- which product gives you the most confidence?
Mascara because it opens up your eyes and draws more attention to them :)

Lust- which item is at the top of your beauty wish list?
Nars sheer glow. I've heard amazing things about it.

Envy- Which makeup product/look is great on others but not yourself?
A bright red lip. I have tried it in the past but think it doesn't suit me and makes me look like a clown :P

Hope you liked this post xx I tag whoever wants to do this post :) Please leave a comment down below with a link to your blogpost if you do. I love reading them :)

Friday Favourite #12 Mac's Naked Lunch Eye Shadow

Hey Guys! Today's post is of my favourite eye shadow right now, well basically for the last six months since I got it. Naked Lunch by Mac. I absolutely love this eye shadow along with many others women it seems as this is one of Mac bestsellers for eye shadows. I first heard of this eye shadow when Tanya Burr did a video of her favourite Mac eye shadows which you can watch here. I actually bought every single one of those eye shadows after I watched it to put in my Mac 15 palette. I just love the colour Naked Lunch and use it all the time across the lid and then put any colour I want in the crease because is such a nice shimmery nude colour that any colour will go with it.

One of the things I love the most about all Mac eye shadows is that they are really high quality, the colour lasts for so long that my eye makeup looks the same when I'm taking it off as after I just put it on. I know there are always cheaper alternatives for Mac products that are as good quality, or near enough to it, as Mac, but I really think that their eye shadows are the best. I haven't found any eye shadows as good quality as them.. yet :P I have already used this eye shadow in a blog post I did quite a while ago of my everyday makeup tutorial, pairing it with Mulch, also by Mac, in the crease. To see that blog post click here.
Naked lunch across the lid, with Mulch in the crease and Nylon in the inner corner.

If you are intersted in buying this eye shadow, you can buy it here on the Mac website or click here to get it in pan form to add it to your palette :)
Hope you liked this post! Do you have this eye shadow? What is your favourite eye shadow right now? Leave a comment below

Celeb Inspired Look #2 Ellie Goulding (Burn Music Video) - Requested

Hey Guys! Today's post was requested by Hellen who sent me a really lovely email. She wanted me to do a tutorial for Ellie Goulding in her music video Burn so here it is. It is a pretty simple, natural look that was easy to create and doesn't use that many products.

Products used to achieve this look:

Face

Benefit's The Porefessional (to prime face)
Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation (in True Ivory)
Rimmel's Wake Me Up concealer (in Soft Beige)
Bourjois' Délice de Soleil Bronzing Powder (14 Olive/Tanned Skin)(to bronze neck and blend makeup into it)
Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder (in Translucent) (all over face to set foundation)
It didn't look like Ellie was wearing any blush in the video so I didn't use any.

Eyes

Urban Decay's Primer Potion (Original) (to prime eyes)
Mac's All That Glitters (used all over the lid and then I concentrated it in the crease to build up colour and define my eyes more. I also took it under the eye just under my lash line.)
I used no eyeliner though I think Ellie had a thin line of black eyeliner on her top lash line just over her fake lashes to make them look more natural on her eyes by covering over the strip.
Curl Eyelashes
Benefit's They're Real mascara (applied to lashes in a zigzag motion to avoid any clumps)
I think Ellie was wearing fake lashes in the video so you could add them if you wanted.

Lips

Soap and Glory lipstick (in The Missing Pink)

Hope you liked this post, especially you Hellen :) If anybody wants to request another celeb inspired look please leave a comment below and I will try to do a post of it :) Click here to watch the music video for Burn or click here to see my other celeb inspired makeup tutorial of Selena Gomez.

*I wasn't able to get a good picture of the makeup with me looking straight at the camera because I have quite hooded eyelids and you couldn't see any of the eye makeup so I had to be looking down in the picture.

Friday Favourite #11 Urban Decay's Naked Palette

Hey Guys! Today's Friday Favourite is Urban Decay's Naked Palette. I really think that this eye shadow palette is a must have for everyone, even people who aren't that into makeup. It's fairly expensive at €42 but includes 12 high quality Urban Decay eye shadows, a flat shader brush (cruelty free) and a mini Primer Potion from Urban Decay that will make your eye shadow last all day. That's really only €3.50 per eye shadow which is fairly reasonable for us makeup addicts but to the girl who isn't that interested in makeup is quite expensive. However, I think that for the everyday girl, this palette contains all the eye shadows that they would need for everyday and some that can be used for night eg. Creep and Gunmetal. Also, the palette contains both matte and shimmer eye shadows to create different looks. My favourite looks from this palette are Naked all over the lid with Buck in the crease or Sin all over the lid with Buck in the crease. I really love the colour Buck, it's a gorgeous brown matte that looks great in the crease with most eye shadows from this palette. I will probably do a tutorial of one of these looks in the future with pictures. I have already used this palette in a Selena Gomez celebrity inspired tutorial. Click here to see it.

Here are the colours included in this Palette:
L-R Virgin,Sin,Naked and Sidecar
L-R Buck, Half Baked, Smog and  Darkhorse
L-R Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal

Overall, I couldn't recommend this palette more. It is an essential to any makeup collection!
Hope you enjoyed reading this post :) Do you have the Naked Palette? Do you love it as much as me? Leave a comment below :)

July Beauty Wishlist!

Hey guys! Here are a few beauty items that I have been wanting this month but unfortunately I can't really get them yet because I am saving up all my money so I can go to study in France for four months from September, but I think that because I am being so good and saving for so long that I will treat myself to at least one of them before September comes :)

1. Essie Nail Polish in the colour Naughty Nautical.
I've seen a lot of blog-posts and reviews of Essie nail polish and have been dying to try it out and then I saw this colour on their website and loved it. It's so pretty. This gorgeous colour is available here on Ebay.

2. Tangle Teezer Compact Styler (Feline Groovy).
I've heard only great things about this product whether it's used for backcombing or just to detangle your hair and I think it could come in handy as I have very thick curly hair. It's something that I've wanted to try for a while now and I think this particular one looks so cute. You can buy this Tangle Teezer here on Amazon.

3. Rihanna Mac Lipstick in the colour Heaux.
I really love this shade, it's a lovely berry colour and I think that it would be nice as a statement lipstick with neutral eye makeup. Unfortunately, it is sold out on the Mac website, but it can be bought individually or as a set of three including Rihanna's other two Mac lipsticks Woo and Boy on Ebay.com but it's quite expensive.

4.Tony and Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray.
I keep hearing about salt sprays and how they add texture to your hair, giving it more of a beachy look and I heard
of this particular one in Zoella's Ombre Hair Care Video and was wondering how it would make my hair look because
my hair is pretty textured anyway, but whatever Zoella has, Laura wants :P and ever since then I've wanted to try it and
see what it does to curly hair. You can buy it here on Amazon.

5.Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer.
I'm the kind of person who always wants to find the ultimate of each beauty item there is. I need to
find the best mascara, the best eye shadows, the best lipsticks etc. And there is no exception with the best concealer.
I've seen people raving about this product all over the internet and I think it's about time I tried it out :) Buy it here on
Amazon.

6. Soap and Glory's Kick Ass Concealer.
This is another concealer that I want to try in pursuit of the ultimate concealer. I have never found a concealer that I really like and I love all of Soap and Glory's Products so I thought that this would be a good idea to try this one out. It has two shades that you can mix together and powder included so you can set your concealer. Buy here on Amazon.

Hope you guys liked this post :) Please let me know which one of these products you think I should treat myself with before September comes or if you have any of them yourself.

Friday Favourite #10 Benefit's The Porefessional

Hey Guys! About six months ago, I went to Benefit to repurchase some makeup that I'd run out of and was given some freebies with my purchase to tryout. One of these freebies was a mini The Porefessional. Now I'd heard of The Porefessional before from other people and had seen it in-store but it never had much of an appeal for me. My pores are pretty okay so why would I need to spend €34 euro on something to hide them I thought. They weren't that big of a problem for me. I quickly forgot about my freebie over the next few weeks and left it thrown aside somewhere with the rest of my makeup. That was until my older sister came home one day and was saying how she had heard such amazing things about the porefessional and that she wanted to get it. That's when we decided to try it out to see if these things were true and I was surprised to find that they were.

The Porefessional makes your skin feel so silky and smooth and it certainly makes your complexion a lot more flawless looking without any makeup. I had Benefit's "That Gal" primer before and loved it but I have to say that I think I prefer The Porefessional to it. The main reason for this is that I feel The Porefessional makes your skin look and feel more moisturized and this is very important for me as I have quite dry skin. Although "That Gal" does make your face look brighter and give it more of a glow, The Porefessional does this and also make your skin look more flawless and even toned. It has a sort of silky feel to it even if you just rub it between your fingers and I find that this makes sure that when I apply makeup over it I don't really get any dry patches, though I did notice some when I used That Gal.

I really love this primer and have since bought a bigger version of it in my duty free Paris haul  (even though a little of it goes a long way) and gave what was left in the small one to my sister. We both love it and I think that she will probably repurchase it once she runs out. The one thing that I think that could be a problem is that it feels quite oily on your skin (but it is oil free...you'll know what I mean if you feel it :P) which I like because its very moisturizing and just glides on to your face but this could be a problem for people with oily skin although I've never heard any bad reviews about that, I just think that from the feeling of it that it mightn't last as well on oily skin.

Hope you liked this post. If you have this product, what do you think of it?
I would especially like to know what you think of it if you have oily skin, please leave a comment below :)
If you are interested in buying this product, you can get it at any Benefit counter or click here to buy it on Amazon.

Don't Give Up!

Image template taken from Shabby Blogs.

Hey guys! Today's post is about not giving up on something you that you want to achieve. I myself, always set out to do something and then, when I find that I am completely rubbish at it, lose all faith in myself and just quit. I've found this with a bazillion things such as juggling, solving the Rubik's Cube, learning dance routines, wanting to run a marathon, being able to fix cars, etc. You name it I've probably attempted to master it. But there is something that I have learned. First of all, how much does this particular thing mean to me? I know I probably won't end up crying on my deathbed because I didn't learn to juggle, but if I didn't achieve any big life goals in my life I think that I would regret it.

The main reason I think that I (and probably a lot of people) give up things is that it has to be perfect. I am a bit of a perfectionist and if something I do isn't as good as I think it should be it makes me feel like crap, but what I keep forgetting is that it takes time for you to become good at something and just because you are not where you wanna be with it right now doesn't mean that with a little time and practice that you might end up being as good as you want to be. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT! And I think that this quote by Thomas A. Edison really applies here. If there is something that you want to do and you try it and suck really bad, maybe give it a week to get rid of all the bad memories of the last time you tried it, and just try again. Always say "I'll just give it one more try" and you will see that you might even get a little better after another try and eventually, over time, succeed.

How To: DIY Pretty Mid-Term Academic Journal

Hey Guys! Today's post is a little bit different than usual, a how to: DIY pretty mid-term academic journal. The reason I decided to do this type of post today is that last year, near the end of summer, I decided that I wanted to get a journal with all the days of the year in it that I could write homework assignments for college and to do lists in. But when I went shopping for one, I noticed that all the cool academic journals with the entire school year going from July to the next September were all ugly, plain black leather ones, and all the pretty looking notebooks were just plain lined pages and I wanted my journal to be both useful and nice looking so I came up with the idea to make one myself. So I made one myself and used it all year round until it came to July and I decided I should make a new one for this year.
Here is what I used to make it:
1. A plain mid-term academic journal  (you can get these a most book shops for around €8.99)
2. A nicely designed gift bag, preferably two different colours (my one was €3.80 from The Card Company)
3. Any clear,extra strong glue.
4. A scissors
What I did:
1. I cut one side of the gift bag out and fitted it to the journal to try and figure what way I would have to cut it to make it fit perfectly around the front of the journal and this is the shape I got.

2. I then did the exact same for the back of the journal. Because there was two holes in the front of the journal (where the ribbon was before I removed it and cut up the gift bag) when I placed the cut out gift bag on the journal, I decided to put a bit of ribbon through it and tie it in a bow. And when both back and front are placed on the journal (Not glued yet) it will look like this:
3. Next I cut out a big strip from the pink part of the gift bag and tried to figure out what way to cut it to attach it to the spine of the journal and this is how it came out:
4. I then placed it on to the spine of the journal and bent the tabbed parts in to the back and front covers of the journal so it looked like this:

5. Then, when I was 100% sure that everything would fit right I glued each side one by one, putting glue on both the card and the journal and then leaving a heavy book on top of it while the glue set.
The Finished Journal looked like this:

With the inside looking like this (This picture was taking before I covered it)

                         Before                                                                               After

Hope you liked this post. Please leave a comment if you want me to do more posts like this in the future :)
P.S. A special thanks to my friend Aimee who helped me figure out how to make the first one last year xx

Friday Favourite #9 Benefit's High Beam

Hey Guys!! This weeks Friday Favourite is one of my favourite highlighters; Benefit's High Beam. It is the most beautiful pink-tinted shimmery highlighter and I just love the packaging, it looks kinda like a nail varnish and it is applied with a little brush that is attached to the lid which makes it look even more like a nail varnish. My little sister once saw me put it on my face to highlight my cheekbones and she thought I was crazy, putting nail varnish on my face haha. I use it as a highlight on both under my brow and to highlight my cheekbones, and sometimes even to highlight my cupids bow. I just dot it on with the brush and then rub it in with my fingers. It is so nice and satiny it leaves my face glowing and very radiant looking. It's definitely a favourite of mine lately!

The one issue I have with this product is how expensive it is. It around €28 and for a highlighter, I find that really expensive and don't think most people would spend that much just to highlight their face. I, however, am not most people and love makeup so much that if I know a product is a good quality product and I like it, I will save up so I can buy it and will definitely repurchase this when it's gone (This is my second one). A very good upside though is that IT LASTS FOREVER. Even though this is my second one, I still have my first one thats nearly gone and just thought that I needed a fresh one because I had the other one for literally years. If you are willing to spend the money, I would really recommend this highlighter just for how dewy it makes your skin look. If you would like this product, you can buy it here on Amazon.

Hope you liked this post :) What's your opinion on Benefit's High Beam? Do you think it's worth the money or not? Please leave a comment below :)

Liebster Award!

Hey, Guys! I have been nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Aman from Coffee Chic. Make sure to check out her blog. It's amazing!! The Liebster Award is a great way to find new bloggers and blogs. It is a chain blog award given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 hundred followers and I was so excited when I saw that Aman had nominated me for it :) Thank you so much, Aman!!

The Rules:
You must link the person who nominated you.
You must answer the 10 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee.
You must pick 10 bloggers with under 200 followers to be nominated for the award.
You must come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

Here are my answers to Aman's questions.
1. Do you prefer coffee or tea?
Tea definitely. As an Irish girl, I will always have a love of tea :)
2. What is your favourite part about blogging?
I have a couple of favourite parts. I love when you get to press the publish button on a post and it's completely finished. I also really love when I get a new follower or when I read a really lovely comment on one of my posts because It makes me feel like people actually care about my posts and makes me want to post more and just really happy for the rest of the day.
3. What made you start your blog?
I decided to start my blog because I needed something to focus on for the summer because I'm only working like 2 days a week and I didn't want to die of boredom :P I chose to do a blog because I started watching Youtube Videos about 2 and a half years ago and as more time went by I felt like I wanted to do my own, but I wanted to ease myself into it and heard Zoella started blogging and then as her confidence grew started Youtube. But now that I have started Blogging I really like it a lot and I am glad I did it first. I am still planning to do Youtube but not for another while yet.
4. Do you collect anything?
Other than makeup, not really.
5. What is something you are willing to splurge on?
Makeup. For brands like Mac that are really good quality, I will save up over time and then spend way too much in one day in there.
6. Favourite movie?
I have no idea. I have way too many, it depends on how I feel at the time. I saw fight club recently and loved it.
7. Favourite candle scent?
I'm not really a candle person but I do like vanilla candles because I love the smell of vanilla.
8. What is one makeup product you cannot live without?
Either eyeliner or eye shadow. I have really small eyes so I like to try and make them stand out more with eye makeup.
9. Favourite band/artist?
I don't have one overall favourite but I really like Conor Maynard right now.
10. Heels or Wedges?
Heels. I don't really ever wear wedges.

and my nominees are.... Rozie from Trust Beauty Dreams, Hannah from squidoodles & oodles, Phoebe Bialkowski,  Paula from Beauty by Paula, Heather from All Things Heather Lee, Gerry from Little Swirl's Nifty Notes, Salihah from Teeniolect, Kitty from Kitty Hearts, Thuy from My Life and Erika from Live Love Erika.

My questions for my nominees :)
1. What made you start blogging?
2. What is one makeup product that you cannot live without?
3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
4. What's your favourite TV show right now?
5. Who is your style icon?
6. What is your favourite lipstick?
7. What is your favourite part about blogging?
