Common Beauty Conspiracy Theories

Weird conspiracy theories, which have been going around on social media lately, are something that I've been obsessing over. There is just something really interesting about them even when you don't actually believe they are true. So for this post, I thought I would tell you some of the most widely believed conspiracy theories about the beauty industry that exist today, and you can be the judge of whether they are true or not.

1. There are irritating ingredients purposely put into foundations that make your skin worse so that you need to use more of the product at a time which means use the product up faster so you need to buy more. This is supposedly done so the big makeup companies can sell more products and make more money.

2. Chapstick put small amounts of fiberglass into their products which makes you get tiny cuts which are invisible to the naked eye. This makes your lips feel more chapped which means you have to keep applying Chapstick to soothe them which leads to Chapstick selling more products.

3. Shellac or gel nail polishes make your nails really weak once it is removed so the only option you have to get strong nails again (without having to wait a month or two) is to get the Shellac or gel polish done again. This results in more products sold and more appointments/money for the beauticians who promote them.

4. Companies put better quality ingredients into their sample sizes (especially in skincare) to get people hooked whereas their full-sized products actually contain a worse formulation and don't work as well.

5. Similar to no. 4, beauty companies make some of their products (including full-sized) extremely effective initially and invest a lot of money to put the best ingredients into them. Once their brand or that product becomes well known, however, they swap out certain ingredients for cheaper ones.

So there you have it. Those are some of the most common beauty conspiracy theories out there. I don't know if I actually believe any of them, some of them are pretty crazy, but they are definitely interesting to hear about. Inexpensive Beauty Blender Dupe + Review

I've wanted to try out a beauty blender makeup sponge for a while now but the actual Beauty Blenders are so expensive. When I saw this B. latex free blending sponge in Superdrug for just €6.45, I thought that I would try it and see what it was like. I bought this when I was planning my 100 layers of makeup video and didn't want to ruin my makeup brushes. 

I've had this sponge for about 2 months now and I still have mixed feelings about it. I feel like I both really love it and sort of hate it at the same time. My favourite thing about it is that my makeup does end up looking really good and it is great at building coverage. The thing that annoys me about it is that it takes so long to do your foundation. It's quite a small sponge, although you can get smaller, and it's average in terms of the size of a regular beauty blender but using it kind of annoys me. It might be down to some bad memories of the 100 layers of makeup video because I did use it to apply 100 layers of foundation and it took almost 4 hours.

My sister has basically stolen this from me now and uses it all the time to do her makeup. She loves it for her foundation, concealer, and powder. I sometimes take it back every now and then to do my makeup but I wouldn't use it every day because it takes so long to make your foundation flawless. 

Another thing that I don't really like is that it's hard to get in around your nose or under your eyes with it. I prefer to use the bottom of it mostly but it's too big to get into smaller areas. When I use the small pointy area at the top, I feel it doesn't blend as well and it not great at getting into the smaller areas either. 

Finally, it's not as easy to clean as a makeup brush, and once it has foundation stains, they tend to stay. Also, sponges are supposed to hold more bacteria than makeup brushes so hygiene-wise it's probably not great.  

Overall, I don't regret buying this product because it was pretty reasonably priced and provides good coverage with most foundations. I know so many people who love beauty blenders and their dupes but I think I just prefer a makeup brush most of the time. Maybe I might start to do a compromise where I do my foundation with a brush and do my concealer with the sponge so that it is quicker and I use it a bit more but as for now, I only use it now and then. It's a good one for a special occasion though where you don't mind spending a long time on your makeup. I hope you liked this post. Makeup Revolution Goddess of Love Highlighter Review

Makeup Revolution is quickly becoming a very popular brand for makeup. Their palettes are really inexpensive and are pretty great quality for the price. I've already bought both of their contour palettes and their concealer palette and was very happy with them. They recently came out with a series of baked highlighters so I decided to get one to see what it was like. 

The highlighter that I chose was their Goddess of Love Triple Baked Highlighter. They had different ones that were multitone but I ended up choosing this one which is gorgeous. The highlighter itself is heart-shaped and so is the gold and white box with purple lettering that it comes in. On first impressions of the packaging, I really love it; It is simple and cute. The only thing is that it is quite bulky so it's not very travel-friendly.

The price was pretty good. I got it for around €6. I know that there are some cheaper highlighters than this but there are also some that are 20 and 30 euro so I think it is a fairly good price.

On to the product, it is very pigmented and has quite a shimmery finish. It is so pigmented, in fact, that you have to be careful not to put too much on because the pigmentation along with the shimmer can look very tacky if put on wrong. It has a fairly good staying power as well and lasts the day. I never notice it has worn off throughout the day anyway. Below is a picture of me wearing the highlighter.

Overall, I do like this highlighter. I feel like highlighter is a product that just works or doesn't, I've never really fallen in love with one as far as I can remember. Anyway, I like this one. It is really pretty. The only negative thing I have to say is that it is quite bright and shimmery so I feel it does kind of border on tacky; it's not very subtle. I'm still going to wear it though, I just have to make sure not to put on too much and to blend it out as much as I can. 100 Layers of Makeup

Recently on my YouTube channel, I did the 100 layers of makeup challenge. I did 100 layers of foundation, 100 layers on liquid lipstick and 100 layers of filling in my eyebrows. A Pretty Big Beauty Haul from Superdrug | Huge Savings

Today I have another Superdrug haul for you guys. I got some really good deals so I went a little overboard and bought a lot more than I set out to but I was really happy with what I got. So here are all of the products that I bought:

One of the first things I got was the Superdrug own brand Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser. I've seen this before in Superdrug and thought it sounded pretty cool. I got it for around €6 and I'm excited to try it out and see if it's any good. One of the great things about a haul like this is that it means I have loads of products that I can write reviews for, and I'm looking forward to writing a review of this product.

Next, I picked up some oval Cotton Wool Pads to remove my makeup with because these are really handy and way easier to use than tissue paper.

After that, I got a new highlighter which I think is from Makeup Revolution. This highlighter is so pretty. I can't wait to write a review of it so that I can show you it properly. This was around €6 aswell.

Next, I got another Makeup Revolution palette and guys.. I'm actually the biggest idiot.. I bought an Ultra Cream Contour Palette. If you have read my review of the Ultra Cream Contour Palette then you will know that I already have one! This is how ridiculous I get on shopping sprees, I mean I completely forgot that I already had it.. *facepalm* Anyway, I guess I will just have to do a giveaway of the second one for you guys because I don't need two :P

Anyway, moving on. The next thing I got was another Vanilla Kisses body spray from Impulse. I bought one of these a month or two ago and I really love it so I thought I would get another one since they were half-price (€1.20).

After that, I bought two Makeup Revolution Sprays; an aqua priming base and a makeup fixing spray. I've seen them before and wondered if they were any good so I decided to try them.

Next, is one of the biggest bargains that I got in this haul. Basically, one of the girls working there gave me the heads up that this product had gone down so much even though it was still priced as normal. It's Superdrug intensive protecting serum to fight the first signs of ageing, and these are normally about €13 but I got it for only €1.68. I figured I had to try it for that price. Later I realised that it's made for people who are 25+ but I'm not far off that so I guess I can still use it.

Then, I got a new Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover because I love it for removing eye makeup and it was better than half price (€2.45) I have already written a review of this product if you would like to check it out.

Next, I got two MUA foundations for just €1.35 each. I'm really intrigued to find out whether a foundation that cheap is any good but I'll keep you posted.

After that, I got a Gosh lipstick and lip liner. I've never tried any Gosh products before so I thought I'd start with lip products. (Also, I think there was buy one get the second half price or something). I got a lipstick in the colour 161 Sweetheart and a lip liner to match. I had a sort of Kylie Jenner lip in mind when I got these and that's why I chose these colours. 

Next, I got a really deep purple lipstick called Blindfolded from Makeup Revolution for €3.15. I have so many shades of lipstick that I'm always trying to find something that's different from what I already have and I don't think I have any lipsticks like this one. 

And lastly, I got some nail polishes from Lottie London. I've never tried this brand but I really like their packaging and they have loads of gorgeous nail colours. The colours I chose were a light grey called classy-gal and a light pink called hit refresh. These were €5.35.

I also got a Lottie London Gel Effect nail polish which was €8.35 and makes your nail polish last a lot longer. I've already tried this and it really does work but I'll make sure to write a proper review of it soon. 

So that was everything that I bought! I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't in my right mind when I bought most of these I was just caught up in the bargains and didn't really think about what I was doing. I ended up getting everything for only like €60 which wasn't that bad considering how much I got. That's the end of my shopping sprees for a while haha.  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post. Huge Savings on Benefit Cosmetics, OPI and More |Professional Beauty Ireland Haul

Last month I went to an event called Professional Beauty Ireland where hundreds of beauty professionals gathered in Dublin to get amazing discounts on beauty products and services. About a month before it, I received an email from Professional Beauty Ireland to attend a champagne blogger reception during the event. My friend Aoife said she would come with me so we headed to Dublin for the day to get some great deals.   

 I had to try to restrain myself from spending all my money because there were some amazing savings to be had, but I did get a few things including some Christmas presents from Benefit where there was 10% off everything.

The first few things that I got were Benefit's Rolller Lash, an OPI nail lacquer and a Gosh eye pencil. Both Aoife and I got an eye pencil free when we attended the Gosh booth but I accidentally got a murky green instead of brown so I don't know if I will be using it as much as I thought. It was completely free though once we gave our emails to enter some draw or something.

I got 10% of the Roller Lash which was great because I'd being dying to try it out for a while (look out for a review soon). I also got an OPI nail lacquer in the colour "Get Cherried Away" for only €6 or something which is almost half price. This is where my great restraint came in because there was a deal that you could buy any 6 OPI colours plus a set of 3 nail polishes including a base coat and top coat for only €40. They are typically about €11 per nail lacquer whenever I have seen them in shops so this was a really good deal. I really only wanted two colours so I decided not to get the deal and ended up making a further compromise of only buying the one. I had great envy for some of the other girls who where piling dozens of colours into their baskets though.

While I was at Benefit, I decided to take advantage of the 10 percent off discount and bought some Christmas presents, and because I because I bought more than two things there they gave me a gorgeous free tote bag. The two Christmas sets I bought allowed me to save quite a lot, over 32% on one and 58% on the other, and that was even before the 10% off everything was applied. One of the sets called Life of the Party included sort of mini/travel sized versions of a lot of Benefit products that combined would do most of your face for makeup. 

The other set, called Get Your Party On, contained 4 full sized products which included their Hoola bronzer, a They're Real mascara, a High Beam and a Gimme Brow fiber gel. 

One of my favourite things that I got was the tote bag that I got for free at Benefit. It's large enough to carry quite a lot of stuff and I really like it's urban design. It was such a great free gift. I wasn't even expecting a free sample let alone a free tote bag. 

Another thing I got were some Sleep In Rollers for just €10. The set has something like 20 rollers in it and a free backcombing brush. Here is a link to their website if you would like to get some although I think the €10 offer was only available on the day of the event. 

Last but not least was this Tan Organic and Skin Logic goody bag that I got at their lovely champagne reception. It included three sample products; some of their self-tan lotion, their multi-use dry oil and a 24 K Gold under eye face mask (which I am really excited to try out). I will be reviewing each of these products once I get a chance to try them out properly so much sure to look out for a blog post on each of them. 

So that is everything. I know it seems like a lot but there was so much more I could have bought including a deal on 24 professional makeup brushes for just €100 which almost caused me physical pain to leave behind haha!

Autumn Makeup Look with a Dark Lip

Hey guys, this week's video on my YouTube channel is one of my favourite looks that I've been wearing this Autumn/ Fall. One of my favourite aspects of this look that I love is the lip colour which is MAC's Rebel lipstick (which I reviewed here).

My Favourite Videos from 2014

Hey guys, so, because my last post was my favourite blog posts from 2014, I thought that for this post I would do my favourite YouTube videos from 2014. Below are 8 of my favourite videos that I made in 2014. These are in chronological order so some of them actually get better as you go on.

The first video is a the Cotton Wool Ball Challenge that I did with my friend, Aoife. This was so much fun to do and I just loved filming this video. The rules of the game are that you have to blindfold yourself and then try to spoon out as many cotton wool balls out of a bowl and put them onto a plate on your head. The person who gets the most wins, and the person who loses has to suck a lemon.

The next video is the first ever sketch that I did. It's called Annoying Teachers. This was really funny to film, especially because I got to draw on a fake mustache and dress up. In the video, I talk about all they different types of annoying teachers I had in school. 

The next video is called Things I Do When Driving. In this video, I talk about all the weird and funny things I do when I'm driving around. 

The next video is the TMI Tag! I answered all of the personal questions in the tag and a lot of people really liked this video. 

The next video is another sketch, What Not to Do in an Interview. Sketches take a lot more work and time to film but they are so fun to film and this one was no exception. 

The next video is a Get Ready With Me. In this video, I create smokey eye look with a red lip.  

The next video is a sort of vlog where I talk about how I don't know what to do with my life. I love how this video came out and it was really funny to film. It is one of my overall favourites, if not my favourite, from all my videos. 

The last video on the list is my 1st ever gaming video where I play The Sims 4. I'm so happy that lots of my viewers really love my Sims series because I wasn't sure how they would take it as it it so different to my other videos.
