Golden Globes 2014: My Best and Worst Dressed

Hey guys! So I watched the Golden Globes last night and I thought that I had to do a blog post of my best and worst dressed of the night. So I'll start with the best looks of the night in no particular order.

Best Dressed

Cate Blanchett

Cate looks so stunning in this black lace Armani Privé gown. I absolutely love the back of this dress, it's gorgeous. The only thing I don't like about this look if I had to be really picky is the earrings, i'm not mad about them. This is such a statement dress that I probably would have just put some simple studs with it because the dress really doesn't need much accessorizing.

Lupita Nyong'o

This dress is amazing, and so cool. The full length cape takes what would be a gorgeous dress on it's own to a completely different level. I really love how she pared it with such simple makeup and accessories so that everyone's main focus was that amazing dress.

Tina Fey

I loved Tina Fey's first dress during the presenting of the show. I just couldn't help think about how absolutely stunning she looked in this while I was watching it last night. I love the dress, it's very simple with the perfect amount of jeweled detail. So classy!

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift looked effortlessly gorgeous in this Carolina Herrera dress. I just think the gown is so beautiful, I love the black band at the top and think the redish fuschia colour is gorgeous. The only thing I'm not sure about is the dark red lip with this dress, I think it clashes slightly, but she still looks amazing.

Julia Bowen

I really like Julia Bowen's dress with the red and purple colour blocking and the red clutch bag. I dunno, there is just something that I really like about this, I like the colours, I like the shape, the only thing that i'm not crazy about is the velvety material for the top of the dress and for the belt, I just would have liked the dress a tiny bit more if it was the same material as the skirt part of the dress.

 Kate Beckinsale

I love Kate Beckinsale's silvery metallic Zuhair Murad dress. She looks amazing. This is how you pull off the metallic shiny look without looking trashy.This dress is all class. I love it!

Kerry Washington 

Kerry Washington debuted her baby bump in this stunning Balenciaga maternity dress. It perfectly accentuated her baby bump and she looked gorgeous.

 Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara appeared on the red carpet in this stunning black Zac Posen gown. I really like this gown and I love the idea of the statement necklace with it but I think that I would prefer it with a gold or silver necklace, or even white. I don't really like the turquoise blue necklace with it.

Worst Dressed

Paula Patton

I don't think I need to say much about this dress. It is way too busy and I just don't think it worked. I think the picture speaks for itself.

 Julia Roberts

I love Julia Roberts but this look just didn't work for me. Without the shirt underneath this would have been perfect. The only way I think the shirt underneath could have worked is if there was no belt or if it had just a plain white. The sparkly belt and the shirt together just didn't work at all.

 Drew Barrymore

I know that Drew Barrymore is pregnant and that she loves bright and colourful fun clothes but I did not like this dress at all. I think that the best thing for a pregnant woman to wear on the red carpet is something really simple that accentuates their bump like what Kerry Washington wore. This is way too busy. I do like that she paired red peep toes with it though.

 Jennifer Lawrence

I hate that I have to put Jennifer Lawrence on my worst dressed list. She is my favourite actress and I love her, but no matter how I look at it this is not a good dress by Dior. It would have been fine if there was no second band but I have seen the gifs online comparing her to Ariel wearing a sail with rope wrapped around it and now there is no way I can't take it seriously with the second band. Otherwise I love the clutch bag and she still looks amazing, she would look amazing if she was wearing a bin bag.

Real Techniques Starter Set Review + Giveaway (CLOSED)

Hey guys, today I thought that I would give a review of the Real Techniques Starter Set because I am doing an international giveaway of it at the moment and I also have one myself and absolutely love it. The set comes with five brushes which are each supposed to be used for doing your eye makeup but you can also use them for other things. The set also comes with a handy brush belt for travelling which while holding all the brushes is very light and so easy to take around with you. I have traveled to a few places with this set and have even included it in my travel beauty essentials because I just think that the Real Techniques brushes that come with a brush belt like this one are so light and convenient to bring anywhere with you and I love travelling with them. Now on to the brushes:

                                                             The Deluxe Crease Brush

I just love the deluxe crease, but not necessarily for what it's meant to be used for, I don't really like to use it in my crease because I find that it is just too big for my eyes (which are fairly small) and doesn't blend right. On my sister's eyes however, which are a lot bigger than mine, it would fit perfectly into the crease and work well. I myself, prefer to use this brush as a concealer brush and it is my ultimate favourite concealer brush. It is so soft and fluffy that it helps to blend your concealer in really gently without rubbing most of it off like other brushes can do. I use this every time I do my makeup and it has really become a brush that I couldn't live without.

The Base Shadow Brush

This is another "can't live without brush", so much so that I have already given it an entire review to itself on my blog which you can read here. My favourite thing about this brush is that it is like having two brushes in one, one for applying product and one for blending, I really love it. I also like to use this brush to highlight and do my inner corner.

                                                                   The Brow Brush

The brow brush is my last can't live without product in this set. I use it every time I do my eyebrows and I just think that the shape of it makes it so easy to use. This product makes it so simple to fill in your eyebrows and keep them looking full so you don't have any bald patches. I also like to use this brush to put some colour under my eye when I am doing my eye makeup and it helps to smoke out that colour if you don't want it too defined. 

                                                         The Pixel-Point Eyeliner Brush

The pixel-point eyeliner brush can be used to apply gel or liquid eyeliner. It works well but not if you want a really thin line. This brush works better at creating thick cat eye lines than really precise thin ones. I don't use it everyday for my gel eyeliner because I feel that my Sigma E65 small angle brush is better at getting an exact line and I am a lot more used to using it. I do however, like to use this brush for using a dark eye shadow as eyeliner to create a really smokey-eyed look or just if I don't feel like having such a dark makeup look with jet black gel eyeliner.

                                                                 

                                                                 The Accent Brush

                           

The accent brush is the smallest brush in the Real Techniques Starter Set. It is made to help you do really precise eye makeup looks. You can also use it to line your eyes, or to darken the outer V of your eye and then blend out with the base shadow brush to give any look more definition. 

So that is the entire set. I really love these brushes and use them all the time. Nail Paint by Barry M Limited Edition Yellow Review

Hey guys, today I just wanted to do a small review of a Nail Paint by Barry M in Limited Edition yellow. I got this in Boots a few months ago because I wanted to use it to try out a nail look and it was pretty cheap, I think it was only €3.99 or €4.99. It's really pigmented and I had perfect bright yellow nails after two coats. My nails didn't chip as fast as with other cheap nail polishes I've used before, it seemed like a fairly good nail polish. Everything was fine until I took it off after a few days and realized that it had stained my nails yellow. It was really bad and looked like those horrible smoker nails in the ad's to warn you against smoking. My nails stayed like this for over a month and I had to just keep painting over them to cover them up. I don't have any photo evidence of this because it didn't occur to me to talk about it on my blog and I wanted to cover them up as fast as I could. I know that I should have used a clear base coat on my nails before using this which it does actually say on the back of the bottle but I didn't read it before I did them and I had no base coat at home (usually I don't really need one for my other nail polishes because they never stain my nails).

I might use this nail polish again if I'm trying to create a nail look or maybe just in the summer but I definitely will do at least two coats of a clear base underneath it just in case. I'm not saying this is a horrible product or anything because they did warn me to use a base coat on the back of the bottle but I know there will be a lot of girls out there who don't always use a base coat or read the back of every bottle of nail polish, so I basically just wanted to warn everyone in case they have bought any of the bright coloured nail paints by Barry M and didn't think to read the back before applying them. Always use a base coat just to be safe with these nail polishes because they could stain your nails for the foreseeable future.

Midi Skirts

1. House of Holland Geometric Print Tube Skirt from Urban Outfitters £90 (€118)

I really like this skirt, it's so funky and colourful. It is one of those longer midi skirts that just looks amazing. It's pretty expensive though for a skirt at €118 and I'm not sure I could pull it off, (Rihanna definitely could though) so I won't get this skirt, but a girl can dream :P

2. Tropical Geometric Midi Skirt By Illustrated People from Topshop £18 (€22)

This skirt might be another one for Rihanna but I do think it is wearable for the everyday person too. It's only €22 and is great if you want to brighten up a look for a night out.

3. Sparkle & Fade Ponti PU Pencil Skirt in Black from Urban Outfitters £18 (€23)

This midi skirt is way more me than the last two. I love dark colours for a night out like black, navy, wine, etc, and I do like a bit of leather. It's only €23 so I'm really considering buying it.

4. Maddie Jersey Midi Length Tube Skirt from Boohoo.com £6 (€9)

This is another one that I could see myself wearing and it is so cheap for only €9. As I just said, I like wine colours and this skirt is gorgeous, I would have thought it was at least €20 but it's a definite bargain at €9.

Kylie Jenner at her sweet 16th birthday party

Kylie Jenner wore a gorgeous leather midi skirt for her sixteenth birthday party which was both sexy and not showing too much at the same time. She looked absolutely stunning. You can get Kylie's look with this similar more affordable leather look skirt from River Island which you can buy here on the River Island website for £30 (€40)


Perrie Edward's from Little Mix's exact skirt

As you can see in the picture above, Perrie is wearing this skirt paired with the matching crop top but you could also pair it with a white crop top like this one from Topshop. You can buy this skirt here on the topshop website for £18. If you really want to recreate Perrie's look, you can get the matching crop top here on Asos. The skirt is available on Asos too but is much dearer than in Topshop. You can buy that here on Asos in case Topshop don't have your size or are sold out.
