What I Ate Today | My Food Diary

In today's what I ate today, I actually didn't eat very much, although I nearly hit my 1400 calorie limit. Anyway, here is what I had:

7:00am - Green Tea

So as I usually do when I wake up at 7:00am, I had a cup of green tea without any milk. I drank it in bed while watching YouTube videos and trying to wake up properly.

10:30am - Breakfast

For breakfast, I had toast with butter and jam, a glass of mango, orange and passionfruit smoothie from Aldi, and a glass of water. I love jam on toast but I only allow myself to eat it as a reward when I get up early, otherwise, I only have butter on it. That's kind of weird but I like to use it as an incentive to get up earlier. I usually don't drink the smoothie every morning but I'm trying to use it up before it goes out of date.

5:00pm - Dinner

For dinner I had one of my new favourites; a feta and avocado salad. So basically it is made with chicken, rocket or spinach, avocado, feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette, and it is actually so yummy. Also, it's really low in calories. I think it is around 550 calories. So, I had that for dinner with a glass of water while I watched some Teen Mom. I was working until 4pm that day and the salad was already made from the morning so it was nice to come home and relax without breaking into a packet of biscuits or something really unhealthy.

8:00pm - Snack

My salad from earlier was quite small; It was more like a lunch sized portion rather than a dinner portion so I was still kind of hungry after it. I decided to have some chocolate that my mom had brought home from Poland where she went on holiday that week. It was pretty nice, the little chocolates were kind of like Celebrations chocolates. There was a cookie one that I really liked that was like cookies and cream on the inside. Along with the chocolate, I had a cup of Oreo hot chocolate. My sister has a Tassimo machine that she brought home when she moved back to go to college that I get the Oreo Tassimo pods for. They are really nice but the only thing is that 1 portion of it doesn't fill a cup so you need to use 2 to have enough hot chocolate.

10:00pm - Snack

The final thing I had to eat was a bag of Perri Buttersalt Popcorn. These are handy because there is only 81 calories in a pack and they aren't as unhealthy as crisps or Taytos. I was staying up pretty late that night so I decided to have some as a small snack so that I wasn't hungry.
So that was everything I ate. I hope you enjoyed this post. I really like making them so let me know if you would like to see more. Also, let me know in the comments below what you favourite snack food is whether it is healthy or unhealthy. I hope you have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

What I Ate Today

Since February, I've been on sort of a health kick (i.e. not eating lots of junk food like biscuits, chocolate and Taytos) because it turns out that I accidentally put on 2 stone in the six months leading up to Christmas. I don't know how it happened... actually, I do. It was probably down to all the full packets of biscuits, giant bags of Doritos and mountains of chocolate I was eating every week. So for the past two months, I've been watching what I'm eating in order to lose the excess weight and now I'm down half a stone. I could be eating a lot less and restricting my diet a lot more in order to lose the weight faster, but I want this to be a more gradual thing not just crash dieting until I lose the weight and then going back to eating loads of crap food.

So I got this amazing app called Nutracheck which helps you track all the calories you eating and burning. I'll tell you more about this app in the future because I'm planning to write an entire review about it. When I first signed up for it, I was asked what my current weight was and what my goal weight was and then it calculated for me that I should try to only eat 1400 calories a day in order to get to my goal weight, so that's what I've been trying to do. Also, since I've been watching my weight and trying to get healthier, I've been obsessed with blog posts and videos about healthier snacks and what people generally eat in a day so I thought that I might try it out and see how I get on. It will be a good way to watch what I'm eating and hopefully, you might find it interesting too.

10:30am - Breakfast

Yesterday, I woke up late. I've been trying to wake earlier every day at about 7am because it makes me feel so much more productive, but I gave in to the snooze button and slept until 10. For breakfast, I had some Ready brek made with skimmed milk and some sultanas sprinkled on top. It was actually my first time adding sultanas to Ready brek and I really liked it (I'm already craving more as I'm writing this).

12:00pm - Snack

I had to go to work at 1pm so I just ate a light snack of some Aldi Savour Bakes Thins (cheddar and cracked black pepper) and a tall glass of water. These have a fairly strong flavour so I like to eat them plain without any spread on top. I had really only just had breakfast and I wasn't that hungry so I went for a quick snack in case I would get hungry in work.

7:00pm -Dinner

When I came home from work at around quarter to six, I was so tired that it took me ages to actually get up off the couch and make dinner. I had a stir-fry with chicken, half a courgette, fine thread noodles, thyme, a spoon of curry powder and a dash of soy sauce. This is one of my favourite dinners because it's really tasty and pretty low in calories.

7:30pm - Dessert

I know I said at the beginning of this post that I was cutting out chocolate but I do allow myself a small treat twice a week. So because I still had nearly 600 calories left for the day, I had one of my favourites, a Dairy Milk Oreo bar with a pint of water. I am literally in love with these bars. If I could eat them all day, I probably would.

8:30pm - Hot Chocolate

One of the best ways to suppress my hunger in the evenings is to drink a hot drink. On a good day, it's a cup of green tea, whenever else, it is a cup of hot chocolate made with skimmed milk. It really helps with the chocolate cravings, although I had just eaten a chocolate bar so I wasn't really having chocolate cravings. I added a marshmallow to make it a bit more fun and that I was all I had for the rest of the evening.
I hope you enjoyed this different sort of post. I'm thinking about doing it as a sort of series that I post once a week or once every two weeks. Let me know if it is something you would be interested in or if you find this kind of thing really boring. If you like it, please make sure to save it on Bloglovin or give it a +1 on Google Plus. I'll talk to you guys soon.

Quick and Easy to Make | Homemade Apple Tart

Today I thought that I would do something a bit different here on my blog. A lot of you mightn't know but in my spare time I really like to bake. So I thought that for today's blog post I would show you how to make quick homemade apple tart.
This apple tart isn't completely homemade because I used pre-made puff pastry. Apparently it takes really long to make your own puff pastry, with tons of different steps including freezing it a few times so I thought that I would use the pre-made one to save time.
The main ingredients you need are:
2 cooking apples
castor sugar
flour (preferably plain flour but I used self-raising)
and a Jus Rol puff pastry block
The first thing I did was rolled out my puff pastry block on a flour covered surface. Also, make sure to put flour on the rolling pin so it doesn't stick to the pastry.
After that, I greased a deep plate with butter so that the apple tart wouldn't stick to it.
I then placed the rolled out puff pastry over the plate to make sure it fit and cut around the sides of it with a knife to make the bottom of the apple tart.
After that, I sprinkled a tablespoon or two of castor sugar over the pastry before I moved on to peeling the apples.
Once the apples were peeled, I cut off pieces into the pastry covered dish. After each layer of apple pieces, I sprinkled about two to three more tablespoons of castor sugar making sure that all the pieces of apple were covered. If you don't put enough sugar in to cover the apple pieces then you apple tart will be sour tasting.

After that was done, I rolled out the remaining puff pastry for the top of the apple tart. Then I covered the flattened puff pastry over the apple tart and cut around the sides of the plate.
Next I took an egg, broke it into a glass, mixed it up with a fork and used it to seal the two layers of the apple tart together. This was done by lifting up the side of the top layer of puff pastry and coating the edges of the bottom layer in egg. Then after it was coated, I let the top layer back down again so it would stick to the bottom layer.
Then, on to the design of the apple tart, I began by cutting a knife into the edges of the apple tart in an inch or so apart segments. Then I used my thumb to press down in the middle of each of these lines to properly seal the tart.
After that, I took the leftover puff pastry, rolled it out with the rolling pin and then cut out the shape of two leaves to decorate the apple tart.
I then took the mixed egg and used it to stick the leaves down on the apple tart. After that, I covered the entire apple tart with egg and put it in a the oven for 25-30 minutes at 180°C (Gas Mark 4).
And that is it, my apple tart recipe. I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, then you make sure to save this post on Bloglovin or give it a +1 on Google+. Also, Leave a comment down below telling me what is you favourite thing to bake, or even just to eat! Talk to you soon.

Hospital Visit

Hey Guys! Yesterday morning I had to get surgery to get all four of my wisdom teeth out because they were growing in the wrong direction and pushing against my other teeth. I had to wear a paper gown that tied at the back for the surgery and get an I.V. in my arm to be put to sleep. I was a bit nervous going in to get the operation and going under anesthesia but everything went okay. When I woke up my mouth was numb and full of gauze and my face was very swollen. Whenever I tried to talk I sounded like Frankenstein's monster haha. Two hours after the waking up (and after drinking some water and having some jelly and ice cream ) I was able to go home. I've had to survive on a cold soft diet for two days so I've had a lot of ice cream and yogurts but i get to start having hot liquids tomorrow like soup. I can't eat anything solid for about five days and I can't have any taytos for a week in case it opens up my stitches (I'm dying for a bag of chili heatwave doritos :( ). It's so annoying because everyone on TV is having Barbecues (or in TOWIE's case a Carb-ecue) and all I want is a burger or some chicken...mmhh. I'm already planning a humongous feast for when I can eat properly again :) I'm still pretty swollen and sore but I'm taking a lot of pain killers and get to watch a lot of TV, eating a lot of ice cream so it's not so bad :)
Me before going into surgery taken on my mom's camera phone.

Hope you liked this post. Please comment below if you have ever got your wisdom teeth out or if you have any food ideas for my big feast once i'm better :P
